Wastewater treatment works typically produce sludges with a low dry solids content. For remote sites, this means regular and costly tanker movements to transport the sludge larger sites for further treatment. Reducing the costs associated with sludge transportation is an ongoing challenge for water companies and a key target to reduce both operational spend and carbon footprint.

At AFECO, we have developed a simple yet effective solution to help address this challenge – our proprietary bio-cageTM. Easily retro-fitted into existing sludge storage tanks, bio-cageTM is an ideal solution for increasing the dry solids content of wastewater sludges, particularly at liquid sludge producing sites where the high capital and operational costs of conventional mechanical dewatering are unviable.
