Wareham Methanol Dosing System

Wessex Water (WW) is a private utility company, responsible for providing drinking water and wastewater services to 2.9 million customers across the South West of England, an area covering around 10,000 square kilometres. WW supply around 285 million litres of drinking water a day to its customers and treat around 475 million litres of sewage at 405 treatment works with a network of 1,515 pumping stations.
In 2019 WW launched a large AMP7 upgrade project at one its treatment works to improve the level of treatment provided at the site. Through a competitive tender process, AFECO were awarded the contract to design and build a complete new methanol dosing system to feed into other new processes at the works. Construction on this scheme did not commence until the end of 2020 but through an Early Contractor Involvement process, the design commenced in 2019.
